This recipe has been a favorite for many.
This is a Honey Dew recipe with honey syrup and vanilla and a splash of rum.
I love it!
It’s the perfect drink for the summer.
The ingredients are simple but it tastes delicious.
Here’s how to make it.
Hook your straw into a bowl and fill it with hot water.
Add the sugar and stir to combine.
Cover the bowl with a damp cloth.
Fill your glass with the hot water and add the sugar syrup.
Place the straw in the bowl, wrap the cloth around it, and leave to sit for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, remove the cloth and stir the syrup to mix.
Now the bowl should be very damp.
You can use a rubber spatula to stir.
Let the syrup sit for a minute, then pour it over the straw.
Stir it around and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
This is where the magic happens.
Mix the sugar with the water and stir until the syrup dissolves.
Then add the rum and stir.
The honey will begin to bubble up and will be thick and sweet.
Allow it to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes or until the honey starts to set.
Pour the honey syrup into a tall glass.
Make sure the sugar has been added and that the straw is filled to the top.
Top the glass with a small slice of lemon.
Add a dash of vanilla and enjoy!
Ingredients: 1/2 cup water1 cup honey (I used Honey dew syrup)2/3 cup milk (I use heavy cream)1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract1 cup sugar (I like Vanilla Swirls) Directions: Straws or glasses, glass bowls, glass jars, or a cocktail bowl are all good for this recipe.
Use your favorite funnel and pour your syrup into the bowl.
Leave the straw to sit.
When it is almost ready, pour the syrup into your glass.
If you’re using a glass, remove a small piece of the straw and place it on top of the sugar.
Add the straw into the glass and pour the sugar into the straw (and if you’re not using a straw, put the straw on top first).
Add your honey syrup, milk, and vanilla.
Make sure you get all the syrup out of the glass.
Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve and discard the sugar (you’ll have to do this twice).
Remove the straw from the glass, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, and place in a clean, dry place to chill for up to 2 days.
While the honey is chilling, you can make the syrup with the remaining syrup.
Remove the plastic wrap and add 1 cup of honey syrup to a small saucepan.
Heat over medium-low heat, stirring constantly.
Once the syrup begins to boil, remove from heat and pour into a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Bring the mixture to a boil and whisk for about 10 minutes or so.
Remove from heat, pour in the syrup, and continue whisking for about 1 minute or so until the sugar dissolves and the syrup bubbles.
Wrap the straw tightly in the plastic and chill for at most 1 week.
